The Agniveer Recruitment Scheme was introduced by the Indian Army in 2022 as part of the Tour of Duty (ToD) model. This innovative approach to recruitment aims to modernize the Indian Armed Forces by offering short-term service opportunities to young individuals.

  1. Tenure:

    • 4 years (initial term)

    • Extension: Up to 2 additional years based on performance and requirements.

  2. Age Criteria:

    • 17.5 to 23 years (age relaxation for specific categories as per government rules).

  3. Educational Qualifications:

    • Agniveer General Duty (GD): 10th pass.

    • Agniveer Technical (Tech): 12th pass with science stream.

    • Agniveer Clerk/Store Keeper (C/SK): 12th pass in any stream.

    • Agniveer Tradesmen (Tdn): 10th or 8th pass, depending on the trade.

  4. Recruitment Process:

    • Online application.

    • Written test (Computer-Based Test).

    • Physical Fitness Test (PFT).

    • Medical test.

    • Recruitment rally.

  5. Training Duration:

    • Basic Training: 16 weeks.

    • Specialized Training: 24 to 32 weeks, depending on the stream.

Selection Process of Agniveer Scheme

The selection process of the Agniveer Scheme is as follows

  1. Online Application:

    • Candidates must register and apply online through the official Indian Army website.

  2. Written Test (CBT):

    • Computer-based objective test covering General Knowledge, Mathematics, and English.

  3. Physical Fitness Test (PFT):

    • Includes running, push-ups, and other physical tasks.

  4. Medical Test:

    • Comprehensive medical examination to ensure physical and medical fitness.

  5. Recruitment Rally:

    • Final selection stage involving document verification and fitness assessments.
